WELCOME HOME
One of the best descriptions of the church is a family. Just as your family isn't the same as the other families in your neighborhood, not every church is the same as every other church in the community. So we'd like to tell you a little bit more about the church family we call Calvary, the place we call home.
What kind of church is Calvary?
While we have people from many backgrounds and Christian denominations, Calvary is a Baptist church that embraces the rich truths of the Bible while striving to live them out in the 21st century. We are affiliated with Converge and locally Converge MidAmerica, formerly known as the Baptist General Conference.
What are Sundays like?
Sunday services begin at 10:30am consist of praise and worship, prayer and the preaching of the Bible. Our services are designed to be God-honoring opportunities to worship Jesus and encounter God. While there is a time for our members and regular attenders to worship through giving, there is no expectation for guests to contribute financially.
Sunday School for youth and adults meets at 9:00am.
Learning together in Sunday School
Our Sunday classes help people learn the bible and its practical applications to living. They are an essential part of our church in which we can talk about the bible's truths in an interactive classroom. It's also a great place to foster new friendships along the way.
Sunday School groups for the youth and adults meet every Sunday at 9:00am. While each of the classes are focused on the same passage of Scripture and topic each week, each has their own distinct style and flavor. Check out our Sunday School classes any time for the class that best fits you. Your also welcome to stop by our free coffee bar every Sunday morning in the main lobby of the church.
What about my kids?
Kids R.O.C.K! And our Kids R.O.C.K Ministry meets at 10:30am. In each ministry your child will be cared for in a learning environment specifically tailored for their age. A greeter will connect with you on your arrival and escort you through all the “newness” and answer any questions you may have. We take security seriously and use a system for child drop-off and pick-up. All teachers and leaders involved with anyone under the age of eighteen have submitted to a criminal background check.
What should I wear?
Our aim on Sunday morning is worship and community. You will see people in church dressed casually in jeans and T-shirts and others in suits and ties. We are not concerned about outward style; we are concerned about the heart.
What should I do when I arrive?
From the time you arrive, people will greet you and welcome you to Calvary Community Church. When you walk in the main entrance we have a Welcome Center which is conveniently located across from the main doors to the Worship Center. We won't just tell you where to go and send you on your way. We will personally escort you and/or your family to where you need to be.
