Join us for worship on Sundays at 10:30 am

WELCOME HOME

One of the best descriptions of the church is a family. Just as your family isn't the same as the other families in your neighborhood, not every church is the same as every other church in the community. So we'd like to tell you a little bit more about the church family we call Calvary, the place we call home.

What kind of church is Calvary?

While we have people from many backgrounds and Christian denominations, Calvary is a Baptist church that embraces the rich truths of the Bible while striving to live them out in the 21st century. We are affiliated with Converge and locally Converge MidAmerica, formerly known as the Baptist General Conference.

What are Sundays like?

Sunday services begin at 10:30am and typically last 75-90 minutes consisting of praise and worship, prayer and the preaching of the Bible. Our services are designed to be God-honoring opportunities to worship Jesus and encounter God. While there is a time for our members and regular attenders to worship through giving, there is no expectation for guests to contribute financially.

Sunday School for children, youth and adults meets at 9:00am.

Why do you have Sunday School?

Sunday School? Sounds kind of old fashioned, doesn't it? Others have started calling it Bible Fellowships, Community Groups, Connect Groups and Life Groups, but we've decided to stick with good ole' Sunday School.

Through Sunday School we simply try to connect people to God and one another. While worship services are an essential part of our church, you can't have conversations and ask questions in a worship service. The Bible is taught, relationships are formed, and people are cared for.

Sunday School groups for children, youth and adults meet every Sunday at 9:00 a.m. While each group studies the same passage of Scripture and topic each week, our groups each have their own distinct style and flavor – kind of like ice cream! We recommend trying out a Sunday School group as early as your first visit. You are welcome to visit any group at any time—and try out as many as needed until you find one that is a fit for you.

What about my kids?

We love kids! For guests with kids we provide Sunday School at 9:00am and Kids Rock at 10:30am. In each ministry your child will be cared for in a learning environment specifically tailored for their age.  A greeter will connect with you on your arrival and escort you through all the “newness” and answer any questions you may have.  We take security seriously and use a system for child drop-off and pick-up.  All teachers and leaders involved with anyone under the age of eighteen have submitted to a criminal background check.

What should I wear?

Our aim on Sunday morning is worship and community. You will see people in church dressed casually in jeans and T-shirts and others in suits and ties. We are not concerned about outward style; we are concerned about the heart.

What should I do when I arrive?

From the time you arrive, people will greet you and welcome you to Calvary Community Church. When you walk in the main entrance we have a Welcome Center which is conveniently located across from the main doors to the Worship Center. We won't just tell you where to go and send you on your way. We will personally escort you and/or your family to where you need to be.
